Default 2003 TXT F/R shifter adjustment

2003 TXT. Having issues with shift adjustment. When in forward and gas pressed, engine will rev up with a clicking noise from rear end as though it is not fully in gear.

I adjusted shift cable linkage at rear end but can't seem to find a sweet spot.
It either has the clicking noise in forward or if I adjust a bit the other way, it works fine in forward but clicks in reverse.

When this happens, if I let off gas after it revs up, it will 'clunk' and go into gear.

Ideas? Would adjusting linkage at shifter knob linkage help? I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks!

You got the original drive belt or maybe a shorter one ?

Honestly not sure. Will have to take it off and check.

If you can roll it off easy then it has the standard belt.
Sometimes we put shorter belts on these carts where they take off better .
The downside is they sometimes make shifting it harder. Your cart (2003 ) has the one cable instead of the double cable and they normally never give any problems.
See if you can just roll that drive belt off without any problem and that might give us a clue. Turn that key off before you do anything though.
