Default Getting started with mods

OK...I'm new to this game but am mechanically inclined...I have a stock 2002 Yamaha 16 gas. I want to build sleeper, noticeably faster and quicker than stock but still "appears" stock. Where to start?

I am thinking of starting with the speed spring to give me more speed w/o overevving, any other ideas?

Not really inerested in a lift kit or bigger wheels/tires, but am open to suggestions.

I want speed AND power but I realize I have to give up one to get the other.

You have the only model cart that I know of that will fit a vanguard 18 big block without lifting. That's a real sleeper!

Yes a v twin is great, but the sound is a giveaway lol. You need high speed gears to go fast or a lift and 22s. I can get 30mph gps on my G9 if I hold it long enough with 22s, if I air them up some. If you get a 18hp v-twin with the rev kit and gears, you would be flying. Far as as stock things you are kind of limited, even if you take the governor out you don't get much speed it just can't rev that high. You need gears or large tires first then go from there. Gears should give comparable speeds to 22s iirc.

My Dad left the stock Cub-Cadet muffler on his 14hp.V-Twin Yamaha, its' barely noticeable..until you drop the hammer!!The look on peoples' face is priceless when they sit on a bone-stock cart and get Whip-Lash!!!

Try the speed spring first, if you don't like it, then do more mod's. Watch out G16 steering over 30/40+ mph can get alittle "puckering"!
