Precedent charging controller?

I have an 04 precedent and was told that my controller should be replaced to prevent overcharging of the batteries. The version is 2.06, is this current? Should I be concerned? I am getting different answers from people. I was also told that club car will warranty this and replace the controller to a 3.o version. Help.

Mrhavasu, have you contacted your local dealer about this issue? If its warranty, he will be paid to replace your controller.

Of the local dealers, one wants to charge me $300. the other &180. The one who is about 100 miles away says its a warranty issue. Before I argue with the local guys, I was looking for more info, thats why I posted. Thanks.

Makes sense to me...

The 2004 cars had a ton of repair issues. If you are not the original owner of the car, then you do not own a warranty.

If your charger is turning off when its done, then your computer is fine.

Take it to the one 100 miles away. Club Car will replace your On-Board
Computer (OBC) at no charge. Nothing wrong with your controller. It's
the OBC. This is from personal experience, and my cart was not purchased
new.

How to tell what version I have?

Look in between the batteries after you remove the plastic cover thats in the middle of them. A negative battery cable will run thru the dividing plate between the batteries. Mounted on the plate is the controller or computer. There is a label on it that has the info, mine was purple in color, and was hard to read since it was upside down. Hope that helps.
