Default speed upgrade options for series cart

I'd like to get some more performance out of my 89 resistor Marathon cart...

I have heard there's not a lot you can do except for upgrading to 48v on a series cart?

if i want to stay with stock wheels and not do a lift... what are my best options?

Thanks!

Switch to 48v and solid state speed control for a 30% increase in speed and torque

This will turn your stock wheels faster with more power....

A $225 rewound motor from Plum Quick may be your answer.
It will be a little harder on the resistor assbly but it would work OK.
ScottyB's suggestion is ideal if you have the budget for it.

if I do the rewind, can I still upgrade to 48v in the future?

Scotty's suggestion isn't perfect in that I need to replace the throttle assembly to a pot box, plus the controller... that will get a bit pricey and almost makes me want to consider a newer cart that just has bad batteries.

Yes you can do the 48v upgrade in future with the same motor but you will also have to use ScottyB's recommendations for the upgrade.
You gotta pay to play.

no problem on that, just want to make sure I'm doing things in the right order and as long as I can do the scottyb upgrades later, I'll be fine with the motor and not wasting money on upgrading solenoids, etc in the mean time.
