Seat covers & Electric staple gun
Looking at getting some seat covers for my cart. Are there any tricks on getting the seat covers on? I read through Cheesy's thread, but his were homemade and I'm sure the premade ones will be easier.
As far as the staple gun, I am looking in to getting an electric staple gun. I am looking at the cheap Stanley TRE550. Just want to make sure this will be enough for the job or is it a waste of money? Any other suggestions if this is not good enough. |

Re: Seat covers & Electric staple gun
The new seat covers are easier to use,I use a regular HD hand stapler and an air stapler. You have to make sure the inserts on the covers line up or it wont look good.If they have wrinkles when you get done, use a heat gun at a low setting on the spots to take the wrinkles out.Dont get to close and dont stay in one place long, just keep moving the gun around.

Re: Seat covers & Electric staple gun
A cheap lite weight gun will bounce instead of setting the staples unless you bear down and that makes it hard to control the stretch of the vinyl.

So what do you suggest? I also looked at one from northern tools. Would air staple gun be best?

Re: Seat covers & Electric staple gun
I think this is the one I use.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=97572 Also put the covers in the cloths dryer and get hot before using and the material will be easier to work. The manual and electric would not work for me on the Yamaha's with plastic bottoms. |

Re: Seat covers & Electric staple gun
Recently replaced my old pneumatic stapler with a HF central machinery unit for $20 plus staples. It is small and shoots a 1/2" crown (a must) x 5/8 staple lightweight but with minimum bounce ....... I know pneumatic fasteners and this one is okay

Thanks, is stainless steel staples a must? I think I might go with the pneumatic stapler as I already have a air compressor to work with.

Re: Seat covers & Electric staple gun
Check with the local upholstery shops and see what they use in your neck of the woods for golf carts
We do not use them in SW |

Re: Seat covers & Electric staple gun
Nice tip on the clothes dryer Craig, I was going to suggest leaving out in the sun to warm up and make more pliable.
Never thought of that I would suggest stainless staples so no chance of rusting and leave stains, not that big of a cost diff. |
