Default Help smoked my wire harness

Decided to unhook the annoying reverse buzzer. Thought it would be a good idea to replace with a light. As soon as flipped in to reverse it burned the wire harness up from dash to forward/reverse switch and possibly to solenoid. What problems should I anticipate other than new wires and forward/reverse switch? Also, what is the best way to repair? Thanks for any help

Ouch! Sounds like you have identified the damage. If you can cut back the wires and replace them you should be fine. If there is too much damage to the harness, you may want to replace it.

Yeah it's toast just wires no coating smoked instantly feel like a real idiot. Is there any way to tell if forward reverse switch is smoked and should I worry about the controller

Somewhere in your wiring you got a direct short. Be sure to find it before you try it again. Next time add a fuse. For a light use the smallest fuse you can find.

Got the body off and wire loom off its worse than I thought wires trashed from reverse buzzer back to forward reverse then to the solenoid and to the controller. Totally my fault worried that the other wires in harness may be compermised. Can you get replacement harnesses or if I upgrade controller get a kit really don't know what's best next step gonna sleep on it

Ok, then lets do this right. That harness is obsolete and not compatible with any of today's electronics. We convert those over to an IQ harness so you can work with any of the IQ controllers and equipment. That is a Sepex motor on that Regen I so with an IQ harness you will be up to date. Although you will have to include an XCT controller now as your Regen I is most likely shot, but would not convert with the new harness.
