Default Full power in reverse, part power in forward

1994 Electric Medalist. Been sitting for a while (year) and now had 6 new batteries. Has full power in reverse but in forward had maybe half power.

Where do I start looking? All batteries checked out fine and does run good in reverse. In forward it barely will climb the small inclind in my yard but in reverse it runs up the hill.

if its a series cart......could something have gotten swapped? cabling that is.....for if its a series cart, and the S1 and S2 on the motor are swapped, it would start going faster in forward and slower in reverse........or if the same two cables were swapped at the F/R switch.

Now if the only thing you did is install new batteries and this started happening....well that is another story.

What if he got the polarity wrong on the entire battery pack?

What if half speed reverse is connected to the forward micro switch or what if you swap the two big cables on the F&R between 9 and 3 o'clock positions ?

All I did was replace the batteries. Did it one at a time and dont think I did anything wrong. All wires are going from Neg to Pos on each battery.

I was careful not to change any wires.

If you have a cart with a motor controller, and hook up polarity completely backward, the instant the solenoid engages....POOF...no more controller. The diodes in the controller would allow a dead short to destroy one/many/all of the mosfets in the controller, burn the traces off the circuit boards, and render the controller completely useless and probably un-rebuildable. But, back to the original question, i agree with the "flipped" field wires theory. Does the reverse beeper work at all? What brand motor controller?

Hey Scottyb.....I dont need you wise cracks this morning. Thank you. As I said I never touched anything except the batteries. All batteries are wired neg to pos just like the original.

Cart has been setting for a year or so so maybe I have a bad connection somewhere but not sure where to look. Yes when I bought the cart it worked fine but had some old off brand batteries that were weak.

Before I could get new batteries I had some medical problems so had to park it. I am now ready to get it running for hunting season but dont want to drive in reverse all over the woods...lol

So who has some good points for me......I do need help on this one.

Oconee, there are several diagrams for the electrical systems at the top of the menu page. Carefully compare your cart to the appropriate one please.
