Will a 1993 charger work on a 2008 cart?
Will any 36v charger work on a 2008 EZGO TXTE?
I have an old charger from a 1993 resistor Marathon that I want to use on the 2008. Changing the connector is no problem, my concern is could the old charger damage the controller on the new cart since is was not designed for an electronic controller? Thanks, Craig |

1. Any charger designed for 36V golf carts will work, but there are chargers designed for industrial applications that produce more charging current than the typical GC batteries can handle and there are 36V chargers out there that produce so little charging current that it takes forever to charge GC batteries. 2. It will work just as well on the 2008 as it did on the 1993. Which charger is it? An automatic type would be best, but a manual type will work. 3. Not an issue. Marathon Controller carts used same charger as Marathon Resistor carts. In fact, if you have what I think you have, the same basic charger design is being built today. Let us know what charger you have. If you don't know, post a picture of the faceplate. Last edited by JohnnieB; 01-07-2012 at 08:28 AM.. Reason: Added Welcome |

I've also been guilty of posting while drinking. The bad part is I've usually reached a sticking point on my buggy build, so I come in buzzed and frustrated, and take it out on the keyboard. |

Re: Will a 1993 charger work on a 2008 cart?
Thanks for the help. The charger I want to use is a Club Car 36 volt automatic battery charger, Model 1012150, 30 amp, dated 4/30/84. It has a 12 hour rotary timer and a current meter on the front.

I'm not familiar with Club Car chargers and I can't find any info on a Model 1012150 charger. On the other hand, If it worked on the Marathon, it will probably work on the 2008 TXT as well. If the initial charge current is 30A, that is a wee bit high for a 225 AH battery like a T-105. (Trojan recommends a max of 13% of C20, or 29.25A) Other than that, if it will turn on, it'll probably work okay. But like I said, I'm not familiar with Club Car stuff. |
