Where Does It Come From? Now I Know.
A few months ago I put out a thread asking where all the dust comes from when driving on dirt and sand asking if anything could be done about it. Gets all over the seat and batteries and myself. Yesterday I took the windshield off for drill and running some wires through the windshield frame. After the wiring project took it for a spin. No dust roiling up and maybe a little faster ride. I like the wind in my face better than dust. Don't think it will go back on anytime soon. The windshield creates a low pressure area, and draws dust into the seat area, will see if it keeps the batteries cleaner. Later

building a couple of deflectors similar to those used on the older station wagons to keep their rear glass cleaner. I found that the deflectors needed to be way bigger to reduce the vacuum. I was going to get the split windshield to solve the problem but decided to remove the windshield, as you did. Worked great! Set aside the windshield for Summer and install it back in the Winter. At some point though, I will spring for the split glass. The rest of the underside and battery and motor area still collect dust, however. I have an air compressor handy to periodically blow out the buildup. Leaf blower works well too. |
