Batteries seem to charge but charge does not hold
The batteries in the golf car are 4 years old. After a charge I can't make it last long enough to make it around the yard before it loses power. I noticed that the batteries have slight bulges outward and it looks like they may be leaking, tops of them show signs of being wet at one point. The cart has been kept in the garage. The batteries showed about 38 volts after charging but drops quickly while trying to use the cart. Each battery shows about 6.2V. Is that normal or should it be higher?

Re: Batteries seem to charge but charge does not hold
Lefty,
All of the things you mention point to "end of life" batteries.. But..... read through this post: (particularly post # 9) http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...batteries.html The charts supplied by Johnnie B. are "the bible" when it comes to battery info !! The real test is to "fully charge", measure pack and individual voltages.... let sit 12 hrs (un-used) and then measure again..compare to chart... |
