Default ParCar Throttle/speed adjustment

I have a 1992 2stroke parcar that I need help on adjusting the speed. The guy I bought it from showed me the cable I need to adjust but it only seems to affect the throttle response, and not the overall speed. I'm wondering if he told me the right cable. I have a decent understanding of engines but not golf cart engines. Can anyone point me in the right direction of what to adjust? Pictures would be awesome. Right now the cart goes 20 – 23 mph on the grass with stock tires. What is the top speed for this cart? Also what octane of gas do you typically use?

Thanks.

87 octane should be fine. Are you wanting to go faster? Can you post some pics of the linkage/cables so we can see what you have.

I am currently working on mine too. I am going to put new belts on it and see if that helps. If you have any pics that would be great. Maybe we could get these figured out?

If you are going a 'true' 22 - 23 mph - I'll bet you are at your machines limit. When checking your adjustments - elivate the rear wheels and run the motor so you can see the cables / linkages in action. Make small adjustments that can be back tracked, if there isn't any improvement.
