2009 (PQ09) precedent charging problem
I'm having problems with my cart reaching full charge. It has brand new crown batteries and cables with a power drive charger. Once plugged in it takes 3-5 seconds for charger to come on and then jumps to 15 amps. After 30 minutes or so it shuts off and will kick on and off again threw out the day. Pack reads 50 volts while charging and 48 volts when charger shuts off and each battery reads 8.1-8.2 volts. Cart has plenty of power but loses it after short rides which pack reads 47-ish volts. Any ideas why it not reaching the 50.93 volts for a full charge? Thanks

Does the main negative cable go through the hole in the obc?

Re: 2009 (PQ09) precedent charging problem
Do a google search on crown batteries and 2009 club car precedent. Major lawsuit from club car to crown over batteries starting this style precedent. Only found it myself after I was having an issue with my crown battery

You may want to reset the OBC, there is a post to the top of the page that explains how to do this. You disconnect the negative cable from the last battery in the series and leave unhooked for I like 30 minutes then relook it up.

Could you post a photo of your battery compartment, sometimes picture is worth a thousand words.

Re: 2009 (PQ09) precedent charging problem
It was a vent cap issue. The batteries leaked and eventually became diluted. The problem has since been fixed. Crown batteries are excellent quality.

Re: 2009 (PQ09) precedent charging problem
David,
Wow, that is a trip. I read some of the court case information on that. I admit I didn't get all the way to the end yet. And it all turned out to be a battery cap issue?? Aflyer |
