Default G14 Belt Clutch Squeal / Squeak VIDEO

Hi, I have a G14 and I'm getting a squeak or squeal from the belt or the clutch. I just replaced the drive belt. I removed the clutch cover and there was no grease in it, I sanded the surface of the pulleys, but that didn't help. I'm including a quick video of the sound; It only happens when going uphill. I do have 22" wheels on the cart. Any advice is appreciated. Eric

It sounds like a vibration to me. Like two metal parts rubbing on each other. Did it make that noise before you changed the belt?

Yes, it did, that's why I changed the belt, but still makes the noise. Thought maybe it was the clutch too. It does sound like metal rubbing...like when the engine is under load and it's vibrating something.

Have you checked your rubber motor mounts ? Is the tensioner cable in place and adjusted ? These parts are certainly things that need to be right on a G 14.

I had an engine that the metal shrouds were not bolted down tight and were rubbing and making that same kind of noise. I'd be looking for loose parts. While the engine is cold, just grab ahold of various parts and move them around, back and forth, see if you can find the noise. Might just be a loose bolt on something.

I think you guys are right, I'm gonna take some time and get underneath... gotta be something rubbing. Side note, do you know if the inside of that clutch cover should be full of grease? I see there is a grease fitting on the outside, but no grease was in it when I removed the cover.

Thanks, Eric

The inside of the clutch should be dry or it will attract more dirt and do more harm.
The zirk fitting is for the sliding half of the clutch and should only get one or two shots.

I think I found the issue; it was the motor mount. Stick a shim of wood in there and the squeal went away... just with a mount wasn't $30 each.... LOL
