rxv front end bounces??
I have had 2 customers recently complain about their rxv "bouncing" in the front end, especially at higher speeds.
In both cases, these carts are ones that i have put new bodies on, and 14"tires. They are programed for freedom mode, and they go 23 mph. One was a 2010 and the other a 2008. I have never heard of balancing golf cart wheels like you do on a car? So any ideas why both carts experience the same issue? I haven't changed anything in the font end, and bushings and shocks don't appear to be worn, but are original. I don't know what to tell people??? |

Re: rxv front end bounces??
Yes, remove wheel & tire, check for proper fitting of center caps (they may need trimmed). If you doubt this theory, Try again without centercaps, bounce will probably disappear. The caps need to be at or below the hub mounting surface, or the wheel is not going to mount flat. Dont forget to check all 4. I end up trimming the caps for nearly every aftermarket wheel i install.

Re: rxv front end bounces??
Sounds bazaar, but i will certainly check that out. I have installed these 14" aftermarket tires on 7 rxv's so far, and 2 people have complained about the front bouncing.
So i appreciate this tip and will see what i find? thanks for the info! |

Re: rxv front end bounces??
Possible problem on RXV's with a few miles on them.....
Lift nose of cart from center front frame. grasp top and bottom of front wheel - push and pull looking for bushing play. the "A" frame bushings (one on outer "A" frame at bottom near wheel / 2 near center of cart) can go bad. the play will allow wheels to shift or shake resulting in wheel bounce/wobble at high speed. If bushings are bad, you may need to replace bolt. Water and golf course chemicals can pit/rust them pretty badly. No use grinding up new bushings on rusty bolts. Also check for tie rod and steering box wear/play. at low speed on grass (golf use) these problems do no show up until wear is severe. Higher speeds on pavement makes problem(s) stand out. Good luck Keep us posted. Want to hear solution to this one !!! |

Re: rxv front end bounces??
Can you tell me how to check tie rods? I don't understand what i am looking for? And as far as steering box play? Do you mean if i turn the steering wheel, and the wheels don't turn imediately?
