Default 2005 48volt G-22 Motor Specs

All I have bought a 2005 Yamaha G-22 48 volt. It did not have any batteries. So I replaced with 4 Trojans 1275. Well I did not make it go. So I found a trouble shooting guide and followed all the steps testing key switch, stop switch ,throttle sensor, solenoid and Moric controller seems to be bad. So I decided to see if the motor is any good. I looked on youtube and followed the suggestions and it looks like the motor is toast. My question is what kind of reading should I look for on A! A2 F1 and F2. I suspect this motor has a short or ground in it.Also This thing may have been in some water at one time. Thanks for any info.

You should get no connection from any terminal to the motor case. A1 to A2 should be a very low ohm reading. F1 to F2 should be a fairly low ohm reading. (maybe 10 ohms or so) There should be no connection between the F terminals and the A terminals. If you think the motor was under water, you will have to disassemble it and check that the brush holders are not all rusted. Brushes will stick in the holders if that's the case.

If it doesn't look too bad inside, you may want to clean it up and replace the brushes while you have it apart.

Hey all, I have taken the motor apart. Not sure how to get the armature out. But it looks like it has new brush set with new springs. tested F1&F2 and get no resistance as my meter zero out with good continuity and the same on A1 & A2. Not sure if the armature is bad. Got any tips.
Thanks Cat

A1, A2, F1, F2 should read infinite to the case when the motor is assembled. If your brushes and commutator look good, I would carefully reassemble and test continuity. A1 to A2 should be very low ohms. F1 to F2 should also be fairly low ohms - probaby 10 ohms or less. All should read infinite to the case.

I get my ohm meter to zero out at A1 A2 and F1 F2 but does not have continuity from any post to the case. I am using 200 ohms scale. Also my question is the motor is an ADM. Does the armature have to be pressed out?
Thanks Cat

Sounds like your motor may be ok based on your ohm meter readings. I don't know about ADM motors. My G29 motors come apart easily. There are two small screws on the end that hold the bearing in place on mine. Then the armature will come out of the end cap. If things look ok, I would not remove the armature from the end cap. It's tricky to get the brushes back in place when you go to put the armature back in. Look at the commutator surface. If it looks ok and your brushes look ok, then your motor is probably good.

So I think this motor has been rebuilt, brushes and holder look brand new. So I put it back together and back on my cart. I found a way to test the regan motor and it works. I think when I tested before I tested like it was a series motor. So I have ordered a new controller because the one I had on the cart was bad.
