Default Forward Reverse Switch question

I don't know about the rest of you, but the placement of the forward/reverse switch on my 2013 Precedent seems very inconvenient.

Back in my younger years I used to drive an electric forklift and the switch was located on the steering column much like the turn signal lever on a car.

Does anyone make such a thing for the golf carts?

I have never seen one, but a good question.

I don't see why a turn signal lever could not be easily adapted for this.

It’s just a simple single pole double throw switch. You can extend the wires to any location you want to. Be it the steering column or the dash. But than you have to cover the hole where the switch was.

Covering the hole is not a problem.. but the location of that switch is a pain in the rear..
I'm surprised no one makes a column mounted unit.. there must be a reason why. I'm not the only one who's asked this question.

The only problem I see with it being mounted on the column would be accidentally hitting it, or worse somebody not knowing what they are doing and moving it.

Many moons ago I drove a forklift (gas) and that's the way it was shifted.

Yes I have been all over. There was this band I was a member of in Liverpool in 1960. They sucked so bad I quit. I did hear they went on to do great things.

Of course this requires an understanding of quantum physics and time travel, as it was many years before I was officially born.

That's hilarious. You WIN!

@Murby There's no way in hell I would want my FNR switch mounted like a turn signal after seeing what happens when someone accidentally presses it while the cart is in motion. Seems like you need to get comfortable with that first.

If part of the goal is to make it difficult to accidentally change directions, You can also look at an RXV style key switch with integrated FNR positions.
