48 volt par car wiring problem
Hey guys im new to these forums but im hoping someone can help me.
I just bought at auction a 04/01 columbia par car which is a 48 volt system. I started looking at the wiring and there are splices and connections everywhere. Long story short i think the guy who sold it totally screwed up the wiring and im in desperate need of a wiring diagram. I have called the nearest dealer and all they can give me is a blurry 4 by 6 picture that i cant even make out components let alone wire colors. If anyone could help that would be so helpful. oh and it has a key that switches between forward and reverse if that makes a difference. Thanks |

Re: 48 volt par car wiring problem
You missed a "0" in the VIN. Should be 5FCLN24A511000181, shipped to Huntley Motorworks 6/12/2001. Date of manufacture was 2/20/2001. Should be a series wound XP+ system in the vehicle, according to the VIN. I attached the wiring diagram, and a drawing of the solenoid bank. FYI, you can find the part and service manuals at www.buggiesgonewild.com/columbia-parcars You'll use the 1996-2000 manual, as nothing changed from them by the time they built your vehicle. Good luck!

Re: 48 volt par car wiring problem
Hey guys. Thanks for the help but that wiring diagram is a little different than my machine. The big difference is the key. Per the diagram the key should have four wires coming from it and nine terminals. Mine has three wires and only six terminals. I am sure that this has to be stock wiring because it hooks directly into the original harness with no splices. Also the diagram doesn't show a lot of the other wiring. Such as the overdrive and voltage meter. I can attach pictures if needed. Thank you

Re: 48 volt par car wiring problem
Got the pictures.
Looks like your vehicle is one of those "in between changes" vehicles. The XP+ is kind of right. Looks like the solenoid bank is probably right. The switch you show is the F/R reverse switch, but the actual on/off power is switched at the Tow/Run switch. I can't locate the actual schematic showing the switch in that vehicle, as that was before my time here and the documentation wasn't the greatest. I attached a diagnostic guide that might help. I am assuming the vehicle is just dead, and does nothing? |
