Default 1996 txt clicks but wont go

Hi I had posted before, but somehow I think the post got lost, it seems now that nobody has posted any replies. I had a couple guys giving me a ton of advice, but I don't know where to go now. If I hit the pedal, I hear a click, but it wont move. I have cleaned the terminals, I am getting about 6.25 across each battery, one has 6.17, and the total is about 37.2
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I would appreciate any help you can lend,
Thank you
Jim

I would invest in a multimeter. This will allow you to test the voltage.
Also, if you connect the two positive bolts (and wires) on the solenoid, and the engine turns over, the solenoid is bad.

I have a multimeter, could you explain how to do it again, remember, I am not too familiar with which post is which, are they labeled? or red and black?
Thanks
Jim

The solenoid is a switch. Power goes in and out on the large terminals. The 2 small terminals are for activation.... Since you hear a click the activation circuit is working.... With the cart on blocks and the key off. Connect a battery cable from one large terminal to the other. If the cart runs like this the solenoid needs to be replaced.... With a voltmeter you can just verify a source of power in on one large terminal constantly and after the click power is also coming out on the other large terminal. Failure to have power out after the click means the solenoid is bad... Hope this helps

Ok......If I did it correctly, it didnt work. I put it up on blocks, and took a spare cable and connected it to the big side terminals on the solenoid. with the key off. Am I supposed to turn the key on, or it should just go? Dont want to blow any thing so I figured I better ask...
Thanks

Sorry JIM, key off for the cable install... then key on & in gear, and she should run if you have a bad solenoid!
