92 CC Resistor coil question how hot is too hot?
Just got this thing up and running! Runs great....but at slow speed notice heat and sometimes a little smoke from the 2 or 3rd coil? I know they are to get hot but how hot is acceptable? At higher speed I don't notice as much. New Vglide and it's adjusted properly( prior to adjustment arm wasn't going all the way up and last coil would get hot). Worried about this thing smoking up!!!

Re: 92 CC Resistor coil question how hot is too hot?
Those resistor coils can get hot (almost glowing dull red at night). That's why there's a guard fitted in front of them. Long periods of slow driving will heat 'em up real good (but not burn them through or bright red). As long as your v-glide isn't getting too hot - it could be called "normal". Remember, it was originally designed for golf - so 300 yards (if your still young enough to hit driver that far) then stop & cool a bit....then go again.

Back then a long drive was 250-275 yds.

Re: 92 CC Resistor coil question how hot is too hot?
Yes I've heard that being mentioned (used for golf) can a coil go bad? I am going to hit it with a temp gauge tomorrow. I just wonder why only 1 is getting hotter than the others?

let me get this straight you play golf ?
really ? you do this for exercise? and you drive a cart around course really ? and you pay to do this ? really ? 1-800-in-sane-line yes coils can burn out or break check them to see if you have any bad ones how resistor coils work |

Re: 92 CC Resistor coil question how hot is too hot?
Make sure the resistor coils are in the proper order or they will get hotter than originally designed.
The low speed coils have the most number of turns and are the smallest gauge ones. So make sure starting from the drivers side, You have the resistor coils with the most turns and the smallest gauge. The coil on the passenger side should be the largest gauge and fewer number of turns. |
