Default G9 Battery Question

I just set up head lights/taillights and a radio in my daughters cart. I tried it out this evening and noticed the lights got brighter, and the radio got louder as the cart was at full spead. With those that have done this before, did you need to do any other adjustments to the cart to run these accessories. They are both directly run by the carts battery and on/off via toggle switches. I left the radio on one as well, so It did not kill the battery with the trikle of power that it would get even when the radio is off. (Is this over kill? It stinks having no presets). I was told that I should upgrade my battery to an Optima Yellow and it would run at peak all the time? I wanted input before I dropped 200 bucks on a battery. Thank you in advance for the assistance.

The reason the lights get brighter and the radio get louder as you rev the engine is because the generator is sending much more current back to the battery. If it were me, I would just minimize creeping around time on the cart and stick with the battery that's in it.

NO NO is right. This has been a discussion for as long as I can remember on these carts. Reving the engine causes the starter/generator to supply the amount of current back to the battery it needs to power everything. Just remember these are golf carts and not really designed for a lot of electrical accessories. About the only way to do away with problem is to buy a high dollar battery but I would just live with it. Also remember to never ground anything to the frame on a Yamaha, it will blow the main fuse every time.

another problem is the voltage regulator over charges
i installed one of a g2 hitachi ols style
ajustable & turned down to 14.5 volts

it also save boiling over of the battery & roting the frame under the battery

yeah i tried that and it still woundnt work right. i tried getting a radio shack no ground antenna but i broke it while jumping the cart (cheap antenna). i ended up getting a 102 inch and cutting a peice of metal to fit in my bagwell and hooking that up and it works really good...
