06 Precedent wont charge new batteries
I have an 06 Precedent with batteries less than a year old. each battery is currently reading exactly 12V and pack voltage is exactly at 48.0. The cart drives fine but will not charge. The charger has been tested on another cart and works fine. I dont see a fuse on the grey wire from charge port and have checked what fuses i can see.
Can anyone offer advice on how to proceed troubleshooting this? Should there be voltage or a ground on the grey wire? Thank you for any help. |

Re: 06 Precedent wont charge new batteries
I'm no expert, but my 2006 Club Car DS was doing the same thing. Mine turned out to be a bad OBC (Onboard Computer). After reading a lot of posts about OBC issues, and I didn't want to spend the extra money on another OBC, I followed the procedures to "bypass" the OBC. I ended up getting a better charger so it goes into float mode when it detects batteries are charged. I haven't had a single issue since. Hope that helps.

Re: 06 Precedent wont charge new batteries
Check the plug receptacle. If your battery pack is showing 48 volts, check at the receptacle with your meter. Should read the same. If not, then there's a loose wire most likely.
I just bypassed my OBC, and was also having problems not charging. My negative wire in the receptacle was loose (it could spin around in there). Replaced the receptacle, everything is back to working great. Paid less than $30 on eBay. |

Re: 06 Precedent wont charge new batteries
Thank you very much. I will check power at the receptacle tomorrow and look into bypassing the OBC if that is the recommended course of action.

Is there a negative side to bypassing the OBC? Will the factory charger still turn off on its own?
