With the present situation I would get the 440 cc Duromax with its 10 bolt block and UT1 ignition system. I would add shaft rockers and HD push rods and valve springs for a really bullet proof set up with limited rpms. All this would be Way less than the honda.
I would agree for cart use you don't need a honda the clones are pretty good these days long as you break them in before you scream them above stock rpm. Sure the honda might be a little better the kart guys say the block is stronger however now you can get 10 bolt clone blocks that are stronger. And you don't even need that unless you put a cam in and run 6K rpm. Far as power the clones probably have more torque for a GC due to more displacement than the 390, which would be better. I have that lifan run all the time since 2012 no problems with it. It quit the other day I put a spark plug in and it was off running fine again, I think it was the original clone plug from 2012. In the summer it gets used every day to get the mail and stuff.

I got the KF82 motor running in my '90 cart for now but I'm still doing the clone swap here in the next month or so. I left the back seat off when I put it back together since I know now that the KF82 sucks at hauling more than two adults.

I would run the KF82 for the rest of the season and then do the conversion over the winter. Less down time and you never know what kind of problems you may run into.

Are you going to use the VC S/G mount and pulley ? I would use those 2 items and their exhaust header for ease of installation.

Sure am. I want to retain my pedal start setup and yeah their header seems to be the best starting point for my exhaust. I think Slonomo said that he had the s/g pulley and that maybe he'd sell it.

Yes their stuff can make it a lot easier, if you have to fabricate things its time consuming. I am making a lever to connect my throttle cables right now, have to up the ratio the new carb needs over twice the cable travel. Its a pain tho I like messing with stuff. This is a slide carb for a scooter/motorcycle, I hope it runs better than the CV carb I had on there. It ran good but it had issues at high speeds it didn't want to open all the way at times.

Default Talk Me Into a Big Block Swap

I say go for it man. I see you have already started ordering things. My family and I have literally rode every street/dirt road in a 30 mile radius. We would have never taken the KF82 that far but now it’s more like a four wheeler/side by side. If we want to ride at 15-17 mph we do so and enjoy the cruising. If we want to run to a friends house at 30-33 mph we do so as well. Best investment I have made lately. Please make an official thread when you start your journey.
