I was thinking the same thing.

OP, could you try and install the tach on another engine to see if it will work? I'm wondering if you have an old tractor or car with a single coil? It's worth a shot.

Technically just something with 12 volts and a spark plug.

So yesterday afternoon I decided to pull out the golf cart and my back pack blower, i grabbed my extra clamp pick up and hooked it up to the blower and turned the key to the on position.

following that i started the blower up, the tach worked, RPM's were wrong but it did work as it should, so i went ahead and pulled the engine cover off the motor and found the front coil pack. I hooked up the green wire for the tach ( it came with both )to the negative wire on the coil pack, i redid the tach set up to make sure we had the proper amount of cylinders, cycled the key of and then back to on, turned the engine over

WORKED like a charm, 1500-1550 rpms.

so for people out there who want a tach on a predator 670 youll have to follow the same if you run a Equus tach.

ill post pictures later of it running.

Glad you got it figured out. The old "swap parts to another vehicle" trick has worked for me dozens of times in my life lol. It just gets frustrating when you think something should be so simple and you can't get it to work. Nicely done!

Here is my Tach hook up on the motor, I cut the factory plug off my coil and installed a new connector and zip tied the new wire & out through the factory grommet.

all works well. very happy with the result, just need to get the new dash installed and we can mount the tach in the dash .

Hi folks, purchased a digital Eling tachometer for my 23hp Briggs. Scoured the forums and can’t figure out how best to connect the signal wire. Does anyone have some images of how they did it? Confused.com Tach powers up and settings are correct, was hoping I could just connect to kill switch wire, but no readings. Thanks.
