The plastic clamp part is what is loose, just try and tape on either side of where the clamp touches, but not the center where the pickup sensor is. Hope that makes sense.
yeah it makes perfect sense, ill try when i get home and let you know

so i tried both the zip ties and wrapping a little piece of hose on the spark plug wire.

still nothing 0__o.

i guess i could try wrapping a piece of wire nice and tight around the plug wire throught the clap and see if that works?

When you turn the key on the needle does a full swipe to the end of its range then goes to 0 if it doesn't -- check your grounds and make sure your tach wire from the pickup isn't bundled with other wires - it can cause interference. Are you sure the settings are correct for a one cylinder engine?

the tach does a full sweep each time then stays on zero. really makes no sense to me. apparently i ordered 2 pick up wires on accident. when the new one comes in im going to unplug mine and see if the other works on the other cylinder.

IF that works i have to figure out a way to get the wire routed to make that work because im cutting it short as it is.

Switching plug wires shouldn't matter at all. I have my tach on the forward facing cylinder. I've done it both ways in other carts, works the same.

I'm thinking it something to do with the pickup, maybe it's bad.

On another note, on my VC460, the same tach did not like that engine. It worked, but the needle jumped all over the place. It was hard to get a reading. Put the Vanguard in and it worked smooth as silk. Could it be a difference in the ignition signal?

Honestly idk, i know its not rocket science but it wasnt the actual plug wire it was the tach pick up wire. somehow i ordered 2 so im gonna try the other one when it comes in.

i almost went vanguard but i have no regrets with the HF. had issue with the other but i think that was a fluke, my buddy has his in the G14 and he jumps the **** thing with no issues lol .

im actually trying to snag the cart off him now for a pretty penny.

so today i switched the wire from the plug with the spare i have, i plugged it in and same result.

not sure what else to try to get this thing to pick up a signal.

has anyone taken a predator apart and tapped into the coil wire? i have no issue in doing so but i don't want to ruin my warranty .

So who on here has had to wire into the coil itself to make the tach work as it should?

cannot get mine to work, im sure i could figure it out with a test light but IF someone has already done just let me know which wires

thanks
