A 7 module pack should give you around 1/2 that range. Start adding gear, people or larger tires the range goes down.

awesome - thanks for all the help. Been reading through your build thread. good info and pics

leaning towards the nissan packs as you suggested. am I understanding correctly that i would need to build a "box/case" for the leaf, where as the chevy volts would be more of a dop in? (aside from charger/bms)

seems like whichever way I go I am in for a big improvement..

SO if I pull the lead batteries a 14 leaf pack, would I need to build a weatherproof case, or are metal plates at each end sufficient

You'll need end plates for proper compression of the modules. Clean and reuse the existing battery tub for protection from the elements. I like the look and practicality of aluminum plate for the floor and walls of the battery tub, makes mounting things easier.

It would be nice if they include longer (4 holes) copper busbars otherwise You will need to stack those shown in the picture.

Those should work well for you. Have fun watching for all the delivery trucks that are about to start arriving. It's better than Christmas!

my setup is a little different. I really don't have an enclosed tub - so I assume I need to build more of a battery box/tub?

I built my box outta treated plywood. I just wanted to keep any water\puddle\stream splash from having a free and unabated direct contact with the battery pack.

Do you have a DS? If so there's a number of good build threads where people have made plates to cover the bottom and sides to prevent water and dirt intrusion.

You shouldn't need to build a box to protect the pack. Your cart already has a plastic battery tub that you can reuse. This is what it looks like when the body is removed. If its a 2008.5 or newer it will have an opening in the back for the electronics plate.
