Default 2015 ReLion upgrade - light kit not working

Hi All,

New to any type of cart mods and my batteries were giving me trouble so I decided to go LiION with the direct replacement ReLion which two are installed working great along with their fuel gauge showing SOC. This a refurbished cart and the dealer is disavowing any knowledge of it.

My light kit no longer works.. I labeled all wires in the battery bay before the switch and there is one blue wire that was on the negative which I now realize after going thru a bunch of thread is actually a supply for the light harness.

I can’t find a voltage reducer and I don’t think I see the wiring for one in the spaghetti behind the dash (pics) attached. I am going to look again on the “firewall” in case I just missed it.

I am thinking at this point, don’t hook the blue wire to the 48v positive on the battery because it will probably blow the light kit. Add a reducer as another thread detailed.

Can someone take a look at my pics and just tell me if I am thinking correctly after the crash education I got here ?? 😉

Thanks
Lou

The blue wire would be the 12v positive and it looks like the black wire in the same harness is plugged into the main ground and that would be your 12v ground. After you install a reducer, that black wire and the blue wire will be your 12v power and ground for the lights.

Thank You…So by what you see you don’t think there is a a 16v to 12v reducer inline ?

Where would you be getting the 16V that you are trying to reduce to 12V?

The lights were likely originally hooked up to 2 of your batteries. There is not a 16 to 12 v reducer in line. Its the common practice of someone not having a reducer to hook to 2 batteries.

I would go 48v to 12v, hooked up to 1 ReLion battery as per their recommendation.

So let me ask a basic question. Since black is wired into the should be fine as is ?? And I would connect the blue wire to the hot 12v out of the VR ?

Again learning on the fly here.

Seems like the RoyKaw is the favored reducer ? I need to order everything.

If it were me, id run my 48v ground on the reducer to where the light ground is currently connected and id run the 12v ground to the 12v ground out of the reducer. But that's just me. Im pretty sure your fine leaving it where it is as a ground is a ground but your reducer should have a 12v ground output.

Thanks but that confuses me a little…

This is the reducer

https://www.amazon.com/Roykaw-Voltag...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

I was going to wire like I found in another thread:
The yellow wire on the reducer to the positive terminal on Lithium Battery #1
The black wire on the reducer to the negative terminal on Lithium battery #1
The green wire on the reducer to the solenoid blue or KS
The red wire on the reducer to the blue wire under the seat that is connected to the lights via a fuse block.
The blue wire (12v constant) on the reducer capped.

Oh. Ok. So theres one ground for that reducer. Apologies. You can do that. It will work.
