Start up is better in Reverse than Forward?

IF it runs good in either direction it shouldn't be the coil, it doesn't know or care which direction the signal is coming from. But as CP241 mentioned the timing might be off as to where the reverse direction might be advanced a little more than it should be, for the 2pg the setting should be in the center of the adjustment slot of the timing plate. IF it's not then it's too far advanced for one direction (still runs good) but also that makes it too far retarded (doesn't run as good) for the other, it would be worth checking.

I just noticed your title says 'Start up' is better, is it ONLY at starting? Or does it actually run better in reverse? If so, how big of a difference is there?

Starts faster and when you step on the gas, it gets going faster. Seems to hesitate or kind of sputter in Forward. Once it is going it seems fine.
