Re: 2001 club car cranks, no start
Upload the video to YouTube and post the link here.
What spark plug specifically? Should be a NGK BPR4ES What direction does the clutch turn when trying to start the engine? Clockwise or counterclockwise? Are you positive this is a 2001? |

Trying to help but if you just want to throw parts and guess, have fun. That’s not not I do things. I’m trying to ask “specifically vague” questions to point towards an actual diag since thats about all I can do from my recliner and probably a thousand miles away… |

Re: 2001 club car cranks, no start
So I did the spark test as you suggested. The spark was blue but very very tiny. Again, I took a video and will continue to try and figure out how I can post it?
I removed the fuel line so I know the carb could not be flooded. Sprayed in a good amount of starting fluid and nothing, not even a slight attempt to ignite. Am I correct in figuring the ignition coil needs to be replaced ???? Can someone out in buggie land confirm this is what I need to do next??? I appreciate any advice ! |

Re: 2001 club car cranks, no start
Again, many of my more important questions still unanswered. I’m really trying to help here but me (or anyone here) can only help based on the information you can provide since the machine is not in front of me. So I’ll try one last time…
Have you checked valve lash? Specifically what brand and part number spark plug are you using? Which direction does the clutch spin when you try and crank the engine? Have you verified the valves are actually moving when you turn the engine over? |

Re: 2001 club car cranks, no start
My approach would be a little simpler as you have a compression test of 150. Step 1 stop all fuel coming thru carb. Step 2 remove the spark plug and crank the engine to purge the cylinder so it is it clear of fuel. Step 3 make sure the oil is not contaminated with fuel. IF it is replace the oil with fresh. Step 4 short gap a GOOD plug to .020" and install . Step 5 open the throttle 1/2 way. Step 6 shoot small amounts of starting fluid into engine while cranking. Following these steps it should be real obvious there is a properly timed spark or not.
