Default 06 MCI Robins fouling plugs

I’m having an issue 295 Robins is fouling the plugs. It runs but will barely move over 5mph. If you take the air filter off it runs way better but still not great. I have checked valves they are in spec .004. New oil 1.5qt and new plugs. What can cause these motors to run better when removing the intake? Maybe bad carb? New plugs are black after running for several minutes. No oil leaks and no smoke

Is it an aftermarket carb or OEM Mikuni? How old is the gas? Any chance there’s water in the tank? I’d take off the carb and give it a good cleaning

It’s an aftermarket carb and gas is fresh. Compression is 165psi on both cylinders

Found your problem. Install an oem mikuni and it should clear up all your issues.

Aftermarket carbs notoriously either run pig rich and foul out plugs like crazy, or wicked lean and won’t run right unless you pull the choke half way.

Oem carbs are still available from ezgo, this is what I’d recommend, and what I would do if it were my cart.
