Default Club Car D9 Serial number slow up hills?

I have a D9 serial number Club Car that the owner complains about being slow up hills. It is used as transport in a Golf Estate.

On flats the cart does 12mph comfortably, 18mph downhill but on a long incline the cart drops to 6 or 7 mph.
Has new batteries, fully charged. battery cables and cables to motor all replaced. Different controller has been tried. Brakes serviced, wheel bearings good, no wheel alignment drag.
Motor brushes good.

The reason I mention the D9 serial is to know if this is a known problem with these. Are they just slow and low on torque up hills?

Apart from expensive Atrax controller and motor upgrades, anything else that can be done?

All useful advice appreciated.

It sounds like you have a series cart, and that’s behaving perfectly normal for a series cart.

Does the shifter have a forward or reverse button, or is it a handle you shift? If it’s a handle it’s a series cart.

An electric motor makes its more torque and low rpm vs high rpm so it’s slowing the cart down to make more torque and climb up the long hills. As long as voltage doesn’t drop below about 46v or so while climbing, there’s no problem or anything wrong. That’s just how they act.

Only way to combat this would be to upgrade basically everything. Start with a high amperage alltrax, will help some but a motor, HD FNR switch, cables, etc will help it even more.

And this is the gas ezgo section. You’ll find more information in the electric club car section

Hi There, it is a D98 serial number. It is a 48 Volt cart with a Series Motor.

It is a four seater but generally only carries driver and perhaps one passenger.
