So I tinkered with it a bit, machined the tapped down to .004" clearance, and I've come to the conclusion that it has poor fuel flow even though I replaced those parts and thought it was working ok. I'm pretty sure the pump that was on it is aftermarket but I've tried two other fuel pumps (kawasaki brand, made by mikuni. I've put them on newer club cars, 2t and 4t ezgos etc) and it does the same thing. Pulse seems pretty strong at the lower crankcase fitting. I even tried hooking the pulse line up to the upper valve plate fitting. It did pump fuel but still just as bad as the previous times. Gravity feeding it with a funnel got it to run well. What could I be missing? Lines are all new.

Are both of the fuel pumps older? The external filter may be dirty. Hit this area with brake cleaner.

The one is older the other is brand new. No issues with the breather ports, they are clean. I may end up getting a low pressure fuel pump and wiring it into the starter side of the solenoid.

So did things work out with an electric pump? Curious.
