![]() Been considering this. I have a 1996 Polaris Scrambler 400 2 stroke quad that runs really good, but has a trans issue. I rebuilt the trans once, but the issue is returning, sounds like it's skipping a gear. So, rather than put more money into the quad, I'm thinking that engine would do nicely in a cart. It's not very large, and has the factory clutch, if I ran the same belt it should work with a stock Yamaha G16 secondary clutch. The engine has 38 hp and revs to 6500 rpm or more. Thinking it would really rip in a cart. What do you guys think?
Here's a pic of a similar quad, mine looks nearly identical. |

![]() Cooling system would be an easy fix, just run some plumbing up to the front. It has an electric cooling fan that mounts to the backside of the radiator. I think the biggest challenge would be the big 2 stroke pipe.

![]() These 400s run pretty damm good. I say give it a go. Make sure you use the original exhaust . Don't try no funny business with it. You know how these 2 strokes are extremely picky. Oh...and figure out a way to add the 4 wheel drive to the cart. You already have all the parts from the 4 wheeler.
