Here Aaron imagine if you will a billet dip stick with a longer more powerful magnet that extends further into the crankcase and has more surface area. You remove the dipstick after so many hours and clear all the iron based debris off of it and out of your engine.I guess while you are at it make them for other golf cart engines without an oil filter. Based on what I seen today I would gladly buy the first one you produced.

Just cut the stick part off your dipstick, find a rod magnet, drill the dipstick cap and affix magnet.I put a notch into the magnet I used with a dremel and pinned it thru the recess already in the cap with a small broken off drill bit.

I have been checking the magnetic dipstick every day or two.I am now at 21.5 hours on this oil. Each time I check it there is a fair amount of fine metal particles.I am guessing it come from all the gear drives in the cam/balance shaft units. It will be interesting to see with fresh oil what shows up on the magnet. When people studied harley engine with and without filters they found the main failure areas were in the roller and ball bearings. When you read about clone engine failures with upgraded valve train it seems that the balance shaft bearings is what causes engine destruction.

Lastly here is my original theory testing MK 1 unit next to the latest MK 3.The MK 2 is in the cart and will replaced tomorrow with the MK 3. Finally got the right length magnet into the stock dipstick cap.

Another interesting note. I wiped my MK 2 dipstick clean last nite since I was going to upgrade today to my MK 3. To my surprise there was a fair amount of magnetic debris on it this a.m. So even with the engine not being run along with cold oil it continues to pull iron based contaminates out of the crankcase.

Hard to believe but I have put on about 60 miles since the last oil change. Now with my long dipstick seeing just a fine black powder substance on it. Fresh oil definitely eased the debris situation.I will continue updates as miles go on.
