06 TXT Dies Under Full Throttle
06 EZgo TXT 36V Electric Series Cart Non-PDS. Stock Motor, controller (I believe is 300 amp), etc...
New batteries which check out at approx 6.3 per battery. All connections throughout cart are tight and in good condition. Recently installed a 6" spindle lift, heavy duty leaf springs, 14" rims, 23" tires, and rear bench seat. Before modifications I had no issues with performance what so ever. I took it out for a test drive and approximately 10 mins in, the cart died under full throttle. Solenoid clicks in both fwd and reverse. Reverse beeper sounds when in reverse. I let it sit for a while, and it worked again. I've heard these carts are configured to shut down to prevent overheating. I'm wondering if my additions are too much for stock motor/controller etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Comments removed as I thought I was in "gas" category.

Re: 06 TXT Dies Under Full Throttle
i would either use a temp gun on motor or touch it carefully when this happens. also feel cables.
That is a lot for a stock series cart. i would at the very least upgrade all cables to at least 4 gauge preferably 2 gauge. if you have a tempgun shoot motor ,controller, cables, fnr switch. and if any burning smells stop use til you track it down. a controller ,solenoid, cable, and hd fnr will make a world of difference. Good luck |

Re: 06 TXT Dies Under Full Throttle
Thanks for the input. I knew I was pushing the limits with my upgrades, but thought I might be able to get by. Might as well bite the bullet now.
Thanks again |

Re: 06 TXT Dies Under Full Throttle
Hey John,
The stock controller has temperature protection. So when it gets too hot it will cut off until it cools, This saves the control from burning up, but repeated over temp cutback does slight damage which over time accumulates and eventually the controller dies. Time for some upgrades to the system |
