Default General newbie questions about corrosion, charging time

Howdy,
I've got a couple general newbie questions about corrosion and charging time.
First, there is a little bit of furr growing on one of the battery tie-downs. Nothing serious but the corrosion is enough to make me wonder if this is normal.

Next question is the charge time. After I got it home I drove the cart around for a couple hours. I tossed it on the automatic Yamaha 48v charger. About 3 hours later it clicked over to COMPLETE. I drove it for a few more hours today and tossed it on the charger and it's almost at that 3 hour mark and the LEDs still show CHARGING and 80% CHARGE. What's the normal procedure for this? Is it OK for the charger to just sit on them? Will that automatic charger turn off after a predetermined TIME or a certain CHARGE LEVEL?

You need to try and clean all that crap off the battery tie downs and neutralize it with baking soda. It will continue to eat away at it until there is nothing left.

The battery charger is automatic, it will shut off when the batteries are fully charged.

if the charger will not shut off and you have wet tops on the batterys you might have a bad one in the pack.
