Does it turn over but don't start or what? If it won't start that might be the fuel pump.

well what will happen is, ill start it up and ride for about half hour, then ill stop, come back, give it gas and i can tell there is no fuel getting to the carb. then ill wait 5 minutes, the lines will be filled with gas again and continue on my ride.

Re: 85 ezgo marathon
Sounds like the fuel tank vent is plugged, causing a vacuum in the tank. Once the engine compartment cools off the pressure in the fuel tank equalizes. Next time you go for your 1/2 hour ride, and it won't re-start, try venting the fuel cap to see what happens.

Yes! I vented the gas tank and started right back up. Now there is no vent actualy for the tank. Could i drill a very small hole or would this be stupid.

Re: 85 ezgo marathon
The first thing I would try... is to see what's causing the cap not to vent. Usually there's a rubber diaphgram somewhere inside the cap that flexes to let the air into the tank, and closes to stop gas from leaving the tank.
There's always a chance of fire if you drill a hole..don't want a flaming ride. I would suggest purchasing a new cap if you can't repair. Ebay has them for under 20 bucks. |
