Default Confused about chargers

Thanks for any feed back.
I took a 97 yamaha g16e 36 volt cart in trade yesterday. The owner gave me his charger and he tookmthe cart he bought and left.

Today I'm looking at the charger and the specs say "OUTPUT" 48vdc / 17amp.
It is a ACCU POWER CLUB CAR MADE BY LESTER "AUTOMATIC CHARGER"
DOES THIS MEAN IT CAN ONLY BE USED ON A 48 VOLT CART?

I CHECKED ANOTHER ONE, A LESTER, IT ALSO SAYS 48V 21AMP??
IF THEY SAY AUTOMATIC DOES THAT MEAN THEY WORK FOR 36 OR 48?
I'M CONFUSED..!!

48v chargers work on 48v carts.

Automatic means it will shut itself down when the pack is charged correctly.

You are saying he charged his 36v pack with a 48v charger for 2 years!? Or he bought it that way and it sat for 2 years?
