Default Club car 1975-1979(?) wiring question

My husband is deployed right now and I am trying to figure out the wiring on our old Club Car. I have it running in forward but can't get reverse going. For some reason it has no plate thing on it with the serial number so am guessing by battery placement and placement of other things that it is a 1975-1979 Club Car. There are 2 red wires coming from the forward/reverse switch plate in the front that I don't know where they hook to and also a black wire (area 1) that I'm not sure about. See areas labeled 1 and 2 in pics.
Thank you in advance for any help you are willing to give me.

im not familiar with your cart's setup, so im not sure about your problem, but the bare cable end is definitely a concern! if its just a "spare", best bet is to remove it. if thats not a option, use electrical tape and tape off the bare end so it can't touch anything.

btw, make sure you remove any jewelry before doing any work on a electric cart! it would take a pretty good effort to kill yourself with 36v, but a serious burn from a watch or ring is highly likely it were to touch something it shouldn't. its also a good idea to tape up your wrench in case it gets dropped or touches another post.

Your cart is the early Club Car ( Caroche model ) with the three pedals and hydraulic brakes.
For wiring go to STICKIES and look under "1970-1974 Club Car Caroche Wiring" for info to solve your problem.

I had one wire too many (the black one) and one of the red wires wasn't in the right place.
