Upgrade my cart for off-road use
Hello all,
I recently purchased a street legal 2001 txt pds cart. I was looking for a gas model, but I couldn't pass up this deal ($300). I was hoping some of you could give me some input on using this cart off-road, we do a lot of riding in the dunes and desert and i would like to fix this up for my wife to putt around camp. It doesn't seem like electric is the way to go here, seeing as how there is no way for me to charge for an extended amount of time while camping. Any ideas on upgrades that would make this cart run good in the dirt/sand? |

Re: Upgrade my cart for off-road use
It will be okay in camp IF you can figure out how to charge it... the sand is hard on electric carts ..... Get the biggest controller you can possible afford. If you cheap out and use a stock or small one you will be buying a new one everytime you go ...... my 2 cents

Clean it up and resale it, use the profits to assist in buying a gas cart

You're gonna spend big bucks to make a PDS Electric sand worthy. cables, tires, lift, controller, bateries... $$$

Re: Upgrade my cart for off-road use
OK, i kind of figured that this cart wouldn't work in the sand. Here is my next question- Can i covert this cart to gas without a whole lot of fab work? I really would like to keep this cart for a couple of reasons. Number one- it is street legal, and in CA, these are hard to find. Second, the cart is in great shape and i have very little money invested at this point.
The batteries (brand new), rear end, and motor seem to be in excellent shape. I should be able to sell these, right? |

Re: Upgrade my cart for off-road use
Can it be done? yes
Should it be done? no You basically will be building an entire cart from scratch. The parts will cost more than buying as used gas cart |
