Default 2004 Club Cart DS ignition switch wiring an Accessory

Hi All,

I rent my vacation home and want to add an hour meter on my three 48v Club carts. I already purchase 10v-80v hour meters. I want the hour meter to run only when the ignition switch in on. Is that possible? Can anyone tell me what wires on the ignition switch has voltage across the cart ignition switch when turned on? Thanks,

You should not connect any accessories directly to the key switch on an electric cart. The key switch is only an input to the controller and connecting directly to it can damage the controller.
For an hour meter you can connect it to the output post of the solenoid, and the hour meter will work when the cart is actually moving. You will need to ground the meter to the B- terminal on the controller.

Thanks for the info. I am not familiar with golf carts, do you have a diagram with the connects to solenoid and B- terminal on the controller?

If those are Series carts (big lever FNR switch):
Meter positive to Controller Terminal #1 (or on the solenoid small post connected to Controller Terminal #1).
Meter negative to Controller B- terminal
The big posts will not work because of the pre-charge resistor.

For a 2004 DS, it's more likely to be a sepex cart. Is your FNR switch a large lever or finger tip type rocker switch?

If You have a Sepex cart (FNR rocker switch) it will depend on what kind of Hour meter you have, this discussion was for the Curtis 803 meter:

The all carts are finger tip type rocker switch. Does the diagram still apply? The hour meter came from Ebay and only has + and - connections with working voltage of 10-80v.

You have a Sepex cart, the link to the thread on the previous post applies to your cart.

If not a Curtis 803, What hour meter did you buy?
