Club Car DS Halogen headlight/LED tail light current draw
What's the amperage required for halogen headlights and led tail lights? Don't see that info printed on any of the sites that I've seen.

If I remember correctly it is wattage divided by volts. 96w would pull 2 amps.

Re: Club Car DS Halogen headlight/LED tail light current draw
LED taillights around 0.5 amps each.
Halogens bulbs when hot, like mrgolf said, roughly Watts/12v. When the halogen bulb is cold, right after you turn them ON, the current is about 2 to 3 times the calculated value above. That is not a problem if powered by a separate 12v battery or a good DC converter, but if using a converter that cannot provide the peak amps needed, the 12v output will sag momentarily. That voltage sag can cause other connected 12v devices to power OFF. |

I am trying to decide if to go with LED's or halogen (which are cheaper) I have a 16A DC/DC converter and the only concern is the load. At 12v if 96 watts for both, 8 amp draw which is something I would be willing to do, but if 96 watts each that would max out my converter. |

Re: Club Car DS Halogen headlight/LED tail light current draw
I'm sorry I was just using the volts and watts I gave as an example. My cart has a 15/12 amp voltage converter. My headlights are 55 watt each, for 110 watts. I have LED tail light bulbs, I'm running a golf GPS off a lighter style power plug. Also I have an overhead fan. Using my Fluke meter I measured the amps with everything on. If I remember the load was less than 10 amps on the 12 volt side and less than 4 amps on the 48 volt draw to the converter. Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

Yes, that was what I wanted to know since none of the specs I've seen ever listed amperage or wattage. Thanks Mr. Golf!
