wont move
I just picked up my 2nd harley cart..I have reolaced the plug, coil, and belt. im still not getting any movement on the rear end like its not engaging forward or reverse. so i took the brake plate off (brakes are next to replace) still no movemment. I have also removed, dismanteled and put the carb back on..
It also is one constant speed. When u hit the gas pedal it just goea but the tires wont move. they move by hand but a little rough like maybe teeth are missing..any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: wont move
Unless your new cart is a 66 or older there is no 'transmission'. The rear end is just like it is in a old car. I would start with the belt off and see what you got. Engine should run and you should see the pulley on the engine close in as the RPM's go up. If you roll the cart on the ground you should see the pulley on the rear axle turn.
If you do have a pre 67 cart there is a transmission. I have never worked on one so I don't know where to start troubleshooting. |

Re: wont move
This may seem odd but are you sure the motor is running and the starter is just not spinning it so you think it is running? (I have heard of this in the past even tho it seems very wierd) Like suggested in the first reply get the drive belt off of the clutch and be sure it is working as it should. If so, Put the belt back on and get the *** end up on some blocks to see if the wheels turn with no resistance.

Re: wont move
just what i was thinking, starter only. I wouldn't run these without a belt. you over rev and your cup will slide out past the felt inside then your doing a clutch rebuild.
