Default Drive and Driven clutch life expectancy

I have an '07 CC precedent with 1600 hrs on the engine. I was thinking about pulling the driven clutch and sending off for performance machining and power spring. I have not had any problems but am wondering what are the chances I need a new one based on its age?

It depends alot on the cleanliness of the environment it runs in. Dirt and abrasive dust will shorten its life. Feel and observe the sheave faces. Are they smooth or lightly distorted? If they are scored or distorted I would not invest any money in it. I would buy a new upgraded clutch assembly and belt and reap the benefits of money well spent.

They both look good. The drive clutch flattens out slightly at the outside. It's not very noticeable.

Any reason to be worried about the internal components?

wish I knew the answer to your question.
What does it cost for the work when you send it off and what if that flat spot is not good?

On the drive clutch...
If it "tings" like a bell when starting out,
you might consider replacing the "buttons" and the thrust washer,
they're inexpensive, and are usually the only "maintenance" items in a drive clutch.

On the driven clutch...
It also has "buttons", but I'd imagine that if your going to get it machined,
that they will either tell you if they're worn, or just automatically replace them.

CPP charges $50 for the machining of the driven clutch. A new clutch would be $260.00. I don't want to have the clutch off any longer than I have to so I'm trying to decide if i want to send it off or just buy a new one.

Lockman, I don't hear any strange noises. Any thoughts on the flattening of the outside edge of the drive clutch? What other major mechanical issue should I be worried about with this many hours? I'm a new cart owner and I'm having fun with the cosmetic mods but now I'm starting to get into performance upgrades.

From everything that I've heard, CPP has a VERY quick turn around with machining.
(less than a week from you sending it, to you receiving it back!)

Since your considering CPP, you might want to get a "Severe Duty" drive belt from them,
you'll never go back to a stock drive belt again!

Don't worry about flattening the drive clutch sheaves, it won't be a noticeable difference in performance!

As for mechanical issues...
Club Cars are built for long-term use,
as long as you change the oil, air and fuel filters, and transaxle fluid on a regular basis,
you should be "good to go" for quite some time!

I had the severe duty belt on my wishlist. Sounds like I'm going with the clutch machining and new belt. I've already ordered the upgraded carb jet, k&n air filter, and high flow fuel pump. Thanks for everyones input.
