Default 2003 Club car - Batteries

I picked up a nice 2003 Club car. I have some issues with the 3 year old 48V batteries. The cart is nice and runs a 23-25 mph. Batteries are not well, one even has a leaky post. Sam's batteries run $650 a set. Would like to put better cables also, stock motor and controller. Read a bunch of threads here and I not sure which way to go. Postings kind of lead to think USVCHX XC2 or Trojan T-890. Would like to hear folks experience...
