Default How many amps does a cart draw during charging?

I wanted to know how many amps a golf cart draws during charging. I did some research and found a website that explained that when the charger is first plugged in it draws up to 10 full amps for a few minutes and then drops off to 5 or 6 amps. It also went to explain that the average amount of power consumed is consistent with the following formula:

120 volts x 4 amps x 00hours= xxx watt-hours

Is it safe to assume that a golf cart draws an average of 4 amps per hour while charging?

On initial connection the charger will push as many amps as it can, typically 20 or so. As far as amps per hour, it does not compute because the rate decreases with time, and the curve will depend on the state of charge of the pack when the cycle begins. What are you trying to figure out, cost per charge?

20A into the batteries, multiplied by the battery voltage (36 or 4 gives you power, divide that by the A/C source (110V) to get the input current. However, to work out watt-hours, you know the (peak) watts already. It does drop substantially over the charge cycle. There is some loss in the conversion. You can buy a meter that plugs inline between the wall socket and load to give you amps or watts - Northern Tool and Harbor Freight sell them.
