Ok, the "smart**" in me is over. I useually try loosening the jam nuts and adjustment nuts just enough to get them out of the holder. Flipping the f/r handle to get the cables out. Wish you would have bought both, change one now, change the other later. With the "base adjustment", try to get the adjaustment threads to equal lengths, work the f/r handle and see if the cables are actuating the transaxle lever into fully locked forward and reverse. Because the compression springs (at the transaxle lever) have some "give", I tighten the adjuster nuts a few turns more tighter. With "stretched" cars there will always be alittle more "bind" in shifting from f to r, because of the routeing and cable length. I'm shure with some adjusting, you'll get it "dialed" in. Good luck PS, if you take the airbox assy off, it will make you job easier.

I bought the whole Assembly from Yamaha. I do have a lift so that part is easy. I dont know if you can do it wrong but I got it working. I put it in reverse then took the slack out of the one cable then put the other one on and took the slack out of it. Shifted it a few times made a couple more adjustments to the splined shaft end and its working good now.

Thanks for the info, LURCH!!!!!

I took it for a 3 or 4 mile ride and we live around a lot of steep hills, I think this old cart is going to make a good one. I just have to sell the other one first before I can spend anymore money on this one. I cant wait to get-er done.

The body appears to be better on the other one. What changed your mind?

I dont have the money to fix both at one time, the other one needed less money so I fixed it first. The other thing I would have to change everthing off of the other one to this one.
Top,Seats,Wheels and Tires,Lights and so on. So when I got that one done and it done so good I just thought I'd go ahead and sell it and use that money.
I'm going to paint, redo the seats, build a roll cage and soft top, do a lift kit W/wheels & tires. Thats why I decided to use the worst one for me to fix up.

This reply/question is for Lurch. This is my first post on Buggies. My question is "Do the cables push or pull the differential into gear. I have a 2004 Yamaha G22 Gas cart. At the shift lever, when you pust in in the forward position, is it pulling the trans axle into gear or pushing it?
