shipping large parts across the states
im looking at buying a new bed for a carryall. I think it will fit on a pallet. it is near the west coast. i am in the middle of the country. is there any way to go about this sensibly or should I just forget about it?
Buyer doesn't want to mess with shipping, its not a high dollar item so he just is selling as picked up item on craigslist. I was hoping to find something to pick it up and bring it to me or some kind of shipping company. Maybe i should give up on my hopes of a cheap bed to modify |

Check out Greyhound package service. They will ship items long distance at reasonable rates. You can save even more by shipping from and picking up at the bus station.
I have never done this because the deal fell through, but I would try it. |

I know many guys who have done this with auto body parts such as hoods and bumpers. Pretty viable option IMO.

Re: shipping large parts across the states
I havent asked the guy to bundle it up or put it on a pallet or anything, i would be willing to pick it up. My main concern is I dont want to hassle the seller with 1. putting on a pallet 2. getting it to a bus station just for a $100 part. Again, he doesn't say anything about offering shipping or anything and it is sold as picked up. I think I will need a service to do that for me - but I may just message him and shoot my shot

Re: shipping large parts across the states
I've tried shipping hotrod parts and it always cost a small fortune. One alternative is make a bed yourself. They are pretty simple. Download some pics and you could knock one out fairly easy. Scrap metal from a salvage yard is usually half the price of new if on a budget.
