All terrain vs street tires
My cart is a neighborhood pavement cruiser. I like the look of all terrain tires, but is there a downside to them? Will the knobbier tires hurt my speed a bit? I'm deciding between these:

Re: All terrain vs street tires
If the cart will spend its life on the road go with the 2nd ones. They'll be quieter, ride better and be faster.

Re: All terrain vs street tires
All terrain tires will not hurt mph but they will make a little more noise and might not be quite as smooth. The all terrain tires will wear much faster. If you go with the street tread, just know that on wet grass they are very slick.

Re: All terrain vs street tires
These are similar tires to what I run on my Workhorse/Hauler. Actually the tires I have are lawn tractor tires. I air them down a bit and they ride pretty good, no traction loss on wet grass, but they sure do plug up in wet dirt/mud. On the road they seem smooth enough.

Re: All terrain vs street tires
I know you're talking lift kit, but as a pavement cruiser (plus that frontend) I would leave it alone, put on some nice offset wheels and low profile tires and call it a day. You also won't have to listen to your wife bitch about climbing on... just me.
Something like these 205/50-10 low profiles + 1" offset wheels. https://www.performancepluscarts.com...iABEgKAJ_D_BwE |

Re: All terrain vs street tires
Had the Sahara Classics 22x11x10's on .
The cart had sat for awhile so the tires had flat spots , after trying several different things to hopefully have them go back somewhat round. they didn't .. I ordered The Street Fox 23x11x10's Wanted the 23x10x12's but already had color matching rims and they no longer make the 12's in my style rim. Noticed the SF 23x11x10's are 6ply much stouter than the Sahara Classics 4 ply I replaced them with. Saying all that slow speeds I get more vibration than the Saharas but once going wayyyy quieter ! BUT where we live they have one of those speed signs , before with the Sahara's I did 22mph once in awhile 23mph showed, now with the SF tires I hit 20 top speed so I lost 2-3 mph going to the 6ply 23in tire ? Doesn't make since , but then again there is at least a couple lbs difference in weight per tire between them. The SF tires being heavier . |
