Default 295cc needs replaced or repaired looking for recommendations?

I am new to golf carts and we bought a 2003 EZGO TXT with a 295cc motor. We got it out this spring and did not check the oil before it was ran around town. Wife was about to go again and it started making a funny noise and then stopped. Had a local mechanic that has tuned golf carts stop by and he believe the cam is not locked up however the motor will no longer turn over. I am on the fence about trying to repair it as it sounds like this engine is getting harder and harder to get parts for. I am looking at replacements however what I am seeing it is a huge step up in CC and I am not looking for that as we are getting an ATV to accomplish the off trail fun.
Has anyone had a locked motor and rebuilt it and had no issues for years after?
Is there a non-big block replacement options?

Rebuild kits are available through our site sponsors or places like Ebay.
Misc. odd ball parts like cams, balancers, cranks are harder to find but most of us have that stuff floating around on shelves.
Where are you located?

My cart currently has a Motors and More built engine. Top notch IMO. I did have to wait a little bit for it to get done, they build them to order. You send them your engine, they rebuild it and test it, then send it back to you. They sent me a postage paid box in one day, includes engine mount board and packing materials, and they had it the next day FEDEX. Cost was $1070 with shipping and a new crank.

Thank you all. I will be looking into all of it. And Yes Stove Bolt with oil really helps!!
I will update you all as I progress through this.
As for right now I have been looking at the Larger motors due to over all cost and availability. What I have found so far online is companies wanting me to ship my motor in and have it redone then ship it back. My fear is that it is non-rebuildable. I am not a huge fan of the reviews and fear I will not get my motor back.
as for the larger motor kits what I have found is two options, kits that require a lift and kits that do not. the ones with the lift I fear will be to much for what I am looking for. The kits that do not still seem to top out at 400+cc and that is a rather large jump.

site
https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/site-sponsors.php
brings up a blank page for me.

Called Motors & More, wow so helpful! They are backed up right now and they still said about 2-3 weeks.

I rebuild my engine with new parts and holding the cylinders for under $400. There are listings on eBay to return and exchange for $600 or so plus shipping your core. If you don’t go to the rebuild route I’d be glad to take that engine off your hands to Make sure it gets back in a cart somewhere

Sorry for the late reply, Life wow. At this point I am looking in to all options still. The Lowest cost is still rebuilding my own so I think that is the way we will go. As for the biggest bang for your buck I have reviewed a few threads about Big block kits and you get way more motor for not much more and if you look at the cost per CC or the resale value of a cart with a Big Block kit it is hard for me to just over look the option. I will be pausing for a few weeks as I am now having a surgery. I will post more as I go. Hoping my recovery time will give me the time to put all the links to pages that seem to have the best bang for the buck.
Thank you all for the information so far!!
