2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
How much diff fluid is supposed to go in a Yamaha JW8-100101 YDRAK?
I would just assume until the fill port starts to overflow and call it a day? I'm reading different specs for other differentials, but can't find any on this one specifically. Thanks |

Fill to the bottom of the threaded hole. And, be sure the gear oil contains friction modifier (or add 2-4oz of "limited slip additive" available at the auto parts store).

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
I've replaced the two axle bearings and refilled the gear oil... the driver side bearing is leaking out a small amount of fluid. Is the seal on this bearing bad? Or is the fluid overfilled?
It called for 16 oz, but i put in more than that assuming it needs to be up to the fill hole. Thanks |

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
You have a 2012 Drive 1 with a Team transaxle. The axle bearing while a sealed bearing is not what does the job of keeping the oil in. There is a seal inside the transaxle that dries out and cracks. Assuming that you did not over fill it which is quite hard to do, your inner seal is probably bad.
You have to split the transaxle to replace it. |

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
No. Yamaha shows two different numbers. Go figure. The easiest thing to do is fill it to the bottom of the threaded hole or just the top. That's why I said it was difficult to overfill.

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
wow, well thanks for the info.
So if i'm dripping past the axle bearing, it's an internal seal that must have dried up and cracked and i need to split the transaxle. Alright then... |

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
When I removed the axle with the bearing on it, fluid dripped out. is this not supposed to happen?

Re: 2012 Yamaha Drive Transaxle Fluid Amount?
No. The axle seal is leaking. Not the bearing but the seal inside of the transaxle.
